Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM
$699.00
Released January, 2011
The Pros:114-degree width is suitable for virtually any wide-angle lens application - great for landscape and panorama photography. Image quality is excellent - photos captured with proper angle reference and overall composition and rich and detailed. Provides fast, responsive automatic focusing - similar performance in both high and low-light applications.
The Cons:Ultra-wide natures prone to severe edge distortion - requires expert handling to ensure proper image composition. Lacks protective filters of any sort - users who are rough on their gear may have difficultly taking care of the unit, especially regarding UV sensitivity. Flash component is relatively slow - some users may require an external "speedlite" peripheral for extensive low-light shooting.
The Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM wide angle zoom lens is a DC series lens designed exclusively for use with the smaller chip APS-c sensor cameras. On par with fluorite glass in terms of performance, its FLD glass elements provide expert compensation for color aberration.
