Sigma 8mm F3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye
$899.00
Released January, 2011
The Pros:Excellent for making spherical panoramas - smooth, rounded edge style makes stitching and aligning multiple shots very easy. Considerably cheaper than competitors from Canon and Nikon with comparable quality - build quality, image clarity and color saturation are top-notch. Classic fishbowl design enables quick shot framing - "true" resolution significantly reduces the need to take multiple shots.
The Cons:May be difficult to find correct exposure level in outdoor applications - users will likely be forced to use Manual mode to minimize dark corners and unwanted sunlight. AF speed is fairly slow - takes at least 2 seconds to move from closest distance to infinity, making the lens a poor choice for fast-paced photography. 180-degree visibility may be very difficult to handle for inexperienced users - can be hard to keep toes, elbows and unwanted shadows out of the shot.
The Sigma 8mm F3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye Lens is intended for creative photography, with a circular and curved distorted perspective. It creates an image with a 180-degree angle view surrounded by a black frame.
